Home Grown, Rx Bandits, Limbeck, & Overhead

The Glasshouse (Pomona, CA)
By Jessica Lamat
After a few frightful experiences with Melissa's high speed driving on the freeway- we arrived at the Glasshouse. We being me, Kira and Melissa. The first band was Ovurhead, and we missed most of their set. But we have a good excuse! We went to Taco Bell (food of the gods!), but from what I heard they were pretty good. They have kind of a Blink 182 style, their vocals sound a lot like Tom DeLonge's.Limbeck was second to go on and they were good too, but not really my kind of music. During a lot of their set Kira, Melissa and I took time to roam around 'the house of glass' and checked stuff out. A lot of the people there seemed to be into them, but I had fun hanging out with some people we met there.
And third was the Rx Bandits! Yay! I love them, and they did a great set. Although in my opinion they could have played a few more of their faster songs, they still had tons of energy. They played a few songs off the old CD "Those Damn Bandits", but mostly stuff off the new EP with Slow Gherkin, and their new CD "Halfway Between Here and There". Rich threw out about 20 CD's and a LTJ picture disc too. I was in the back so I couldn't grab anything. Aw.. poor me. I don't really know how to describe their performance except that it gave me a really big smile! I love them! If you haven't already- I suggest you go out and get any RxB CD that you can- it will not disappoint! I am surprised mine and Kira's CDs haven't worn out yet. hehe...
Last but not least.. Home Grown! Home Grown was really good, I had never seen them before and I thought that they put on a really good show although I barely got to see them through the crowd. I swear as soon as they took the stage 400 people popped up out of nowhere, it got crazy! Bob wasn't playing- but I don't know who replaced him. The Homie-G boys opened up with their version of "Barbie Girl" which is on their new EP, "EP Phone Home." This set the crowd off and was a good way to start a great set. Home Grown played songs from every album and split them all up pretty well so it wasn't like blocks from each CD. Johnee and Adam picked on each other all night, and provided lots of entertainment with their jokes and dances. (note from kira: Johnee constantly made fun of Adam's "white man" dancing) I don't know what else to say except that it was really fun & really packed.
Oh yeah.. I talked to Rich from RxB, and made him sign my stolen poster from off the wall. How scandalous.... :) haha
