Rx Bandits, Codename: Rocky, My Superhero, Jerry Lives Twice, and the Underachievers

First band up was The Underachievers, who aren't signed to a label yet but it should be soon because they're very talented and well liked. They played a good set with songs like "Temporary Girlfriend", "Katie the Punk Rock Chick". Our friend Freddie, their singer/trumpet player, kept making funny facial expressions at me so I was laughing a lot.
Up next was San Diego's own Jerry Lives Twice. Their drummer Matt got hopelessly lost on the way to the venue and didn't make it in time to play with the band. After a long delay, singer Mike came out and did a solo MTX cover song which I thought was cool and demonstrated a lot of courage because he was dealing with a very impatient crowd. Andrew of CNR took over the drums for two songs, "Someday" and a new one "I Don't Wanna Wait". That was it of their set because they ran out of time. It was really depressing because we love JLT and never get to see them or our friend Wayne (their trombone/bassist). Oh well, they were good sports about it.
Then it was time for some "emo flavored ska-core".. Codename:Rocky! I had to stand in the back for their set so I didn't witness much of what was going on up front but they played a very energetic set and that was more than obvious. People kept throwing underwear onstage and the trumpet player ended up wearing some even. Go Bill! CNR got a great response like always and it was cool to see them again finally.
Rx Bandits took the stage next and I got a wristband and showed it to the bitch security guard and she let me in. I headed to the stage side of the barrier and got ready to take pictures. RxB didn't play very long, but they did a good job. They played strictly NEW material, with only one song from "Those Damn Bandits", the song they affectionatly refer to as "Fag Muffin" or something.. also known as "Teen Idol".. yes they hate that song. Rich was really into the set, playing guitar on his trombone as Noah ran around the stage screaming into the mic.
My Superhero headlined the show and pretty much everyone stuck around to see them, which was cool. They had a keyboardist/accordian player who was really fun to watch. They played "Groovy Kind of Love"! I was so happy, I love that song. My Superhero had a little encore and I thought it was cool, because most bands don't do that. Anyway.. good show and it was about time for a big ska show since we've been without one like this for too long.
